Saturday September 2nd – Planes, Trains and Automobiles

Steam Locomotive

Join us and as we appreciate the time and workmanship that has been invested in the restoration and maintenance of the vintage vehicles on display. As we make our way to Grosse Isle led by steam locomotive No. 3, our onboard volunteers will transport you back to a time when the vintage vehicles and steam locomotives were regular methods of transport. Look out for the vintage vehicles as they follow us up the track, ready to join us during the stopover. Walk through our steam locomotive and listen to our Engineers as they discuss the workings of this incredible engine, take a stroll through the 1886 homestead and look out for the airplane flyover as he interacts with our on ground staff. This is a truly unique way to begin your long weekend.

Sunday September 3rd –Great Train Robbery (Cowboys and Gals)

Yet again it has been reported that those brazen Cowboys 'n Gals have been sighted up the line. Rumour has it that they`re looking to ambush the next passenger train they encounter. It is imperative that we all remain alert as we try to elude the robbers this time. Be prepared to hand over any spare change should the need arise. During the stopover enjoy freshly prepared hot dogs and smokies, made-from-scratch baking while relaxing to the live tunes by the Audayo Brothers. Visit the beautifully restored Heritage House, the East Rosser School or take a moment in the Church before we take a leisurely ride back to the city.

Monday September 4th – Lazy Labour Day

Sit back, relax and unwind onboard the Prairie Dog Central this holiday Monday. Immerse yourself in the presentation by our onboard volunteers or lose yourself in the open prairies as we travel to the rural community of Grosse Isle. During the stopover take a walk through our 1882 steam locomotive and see the Engineer and Fireman at work. Take a stroll through the beautifully restored Heritage House and East Rosser School before taking a moment in the Church. Indulge in a freshly prepared hotdog or smokie, pick up some made-from-scratch baking and kick back and enjoy the live music by the Audayo Brothers.

Saturday September 9th – Railway Fall Supper

The Railway Fall Supper has been a firm favourite on the Prairie Dog Central’s calendar for over 35 years. Let our majestic steam locomotive No. 3 lead the way to a sumptuous, made-from-scratch Fall Supper. Each season our passengers devour the offerings of roast turkey, mashed potatoes, vegetables, dressing, cranberry sauce, salad, fresh rolls and dessert. Take time to relax with friends and family as you join us for the first of two Fall Suppers. Booking early is recommended as this Event sells out fast.

If you're looking for something different to do this weekend, join us onboard for a fully interactive day packed with excitement and expectation. Remain alert and inform our onboard staff if you see any suspicious activity, because rumour on the railway is that the cowboys and gals on horseback are up to their old tricks again. Take time during the stopover to walk through our steam locomotive, or kick back and relax to live music performed by the Audayo Brothers. Freshly prepared pastries, hot dogs and smokies are awaiting your arrival, so indulge during the stopover or pick up a box to bring home.

Saturday September 16th – The Entertainment Express featuring Chris Without the Hat

Hop onboard for an entertaining day aboard the Prairie Dog Central. Joining us with Winnipeg favourite Chris Without the Hat who will sketch caricatures of all the kids onboard. Enjoy the leisurely ride as we make our way to the rural community of Grosse Isle. On arrival, pick up a freshly prepared hotdog or smokie saving space for a slice of delicious lemon pie. Grab a front row seat in anticipation of Chris Without the Hat’s crazy jugging show.

Sunday September 17th – Family Fun Day

Join us onboard for a day that is going to be a complete sensory overload, there's something for everyone on the PDC today! The Audayo Brothers will perform live music onboard as we make our way up the line. There are balloon animals for the kids, and as well, stop by the caboose for a tattoo. Visit the enthusiastic volunteers in the Heritage House, East Rosser School and take a moment in the Church. Secure a front row seat as Patrick the Magician performs his mesmerising magic show. Bring along your own home packed basket or delight in the home baked pies, pastries, hot dogs and smokies freshly prepared by the locals. Book early so you don’t miss this entertaining fun packed day.

The second of two Fall Suppers for 2017, so don’t miss out and be sure to book early as this event sells out fast. Our passengers have attended this delicious trip for over 35 years and it remains a firm favourite. As steam locomotive No. 3 leads the way, we look forward to a sumptuous, made-from-scratch supper of roast turkey, mashed potatoes, vegetables, dressing, cranberry sauce, salad, fresh rolls and dessert prepared by the volunteers at Grosse Isle. Visit with family and friends before we take a leisurely ride back to Inkster Junction Station.

Don’t miss out folks, it’s the last run of the regular season! It`s been over 120 years since the first train robbery and those pesky robbers are still out in force. It’s been a rough season as the cowboys and gals on horseback continually held up the train and robbed our passengers during this season. We have been trying to dodge this gang of desperados all season but they always strike when we least expect it! Enjoy the onboard entertainment as we make our way though the prairies to the rural community of Grosse Isle. Walk through our steam locomotive, savour the freshly baked goods or pick up a souvenir from one of the vendors before kicking back to the live music by the Audayo Brothers. Before we leave, be sure to visit the beautifully restored Heritage House, East Rosser School and take a moment in the Church.
